    The Sr. Academic Coach is responsible for providing exceptional academic coaching and is accountable for attaining performance goals associated with new, continuing and resuming students while upholding academic integrity. In addition, this position is responsible for executing all elements of a proactive student outreach strategy, including face to face meetings, phone conversations, and e-mails. The Academic Coach will assist students in online and on-ground courses and may be responsible for specific content areas.


    • Supervises, hires, and evaluates performance of student workers.
    • Stays abreast of best practices for student retention, support retention strategies for the college, and work closely with faculty, and other staff in implementing, evaluating, and improving retention strategies.
    • Partners with all campus functions to assess, plan, and address student academic support and tutoring needs.
    • Supports students in accessing library resources and tutoring services to meet the needs of both on-site and online students.
    • Organizes and facilitates student workshops on topics such as study skills, APA writing, learning styles, scholarly research, study techniques, text anxiety, time-management, etc..
    • Collaborates with the ADAE to support Student Learning Outcomes on campus and conducts SLO audits after each term and performs annual analysis of SLO and develops action plans to address areas of opportunity.
    • Assesses learning needs of individual students and develops a plan of instruction based on assessment results.
    • Markets the Student Success Center services to students on campus and online.
    • Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of college programs and accurately communicates academic policies and regulations to students.
    • Works in conjunction with Program Directors and ADAE, to include the development of remediation plans, the recommendation of learning materials, and the referral of students to appropriate resource persons.
    • Demonstrates effective behaviors and accountability in meeting the following standards of service excellence to students, fellow team members, and external agencies: Friendliness and courtesy, professional environment, effective communication, first class service.
    • Participates in professional organizations as appropriate and serves on College committees as assigned.
    • Participates in SOAR meetings and maintains standardized SOAR report expectations to ensure students are receiving appropriate academic support.
    • Develops and maintains high standards of professional practices and employs, directs, and maintains qualified personnel to meet the service goals and needs of the campus.
    • Works to improve the quality and quantity of services offered.
    • Partners with ADAE to support the operational policies and procedures to improve academic and administrative functions.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.



    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Science, Math, English or a medical related discipline.
    • Min of 1 to 3 years of education related work experience preferred.
    • At least one year of supervisory experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in teaching/tutoring required.
    • Strong PC skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills. - Knowledge of APA format, online research and basic math.
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in an accurate, understandable, and succinct manner while adapting communication style to the audience.
    • Proactively solves problems though asking questions, listening to responses, verifying information, considering alternate conclusions and staying solution-focused.
