We have an Immediate need for a weekend Nursing Instructor to teach in our VN program.  This role would  teaching for the next 3 weekends at the San Jose, California campus.  We are looking for someone to teach IV Therapy and Blood Draws,

 This will take place 3 weekends in a row in April from about 8-4pm.

Responsibilities

 

 

  • Effectively delivers course material in accordance with college curriculum.
  • Fulfils administrative requirements for each course including attendance, Student Learning Outcome (SLO) assessment data, posting grades in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manages classroom, student engagement and interaction to maximize student learning.
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques to promote student engagement and learning.
  • Provides students with timely, ongoing positive feedback on homework, quizzes, papers and other assignments.
  • Works collaboratively with team to ensure students have access to academic coaching, tutoring, open labs, and other resources to support positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrates willingness to develop proficiency in all applicable learning methodologies and classroom management strategies through continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the campus community by attending faculty and campus meetings, participating on local committees, and attending campus events.
  • Provides proactive student outreach and advisement.
  • Maintains high standards of professionalism and accountability and models positive behaviors for our students.
  • Works collaboratively with interdepartmental campus colleagues to ensure program students receive learner support to achieve success.
  • Acts as substitute instructor for academic colleagues as required.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be comfortable teaching an IV course, this is taught on Saturdays and Sunday from 2/24-3/11.


A RN licensed by the CA Board of Registered Nursing who within the previous 5 years has had a minimum of 6 months experience in blood withdrawal &/or starting and superimposing IV fluids in an organized health care system; OR has had experience teaching courses in blood withdrawal &/or IV therapy; OR has met the requirements for faculty of a RN, VN, or Psychiatric technician program.

 

OR

 

-          A physician licensed by the Medical Board of CA or the Osteopathic Medical Board of CA within the previous 5 years, a minimum of 6 months of experience in blood withdrawal &/or starting and superimposing intravenous fluids in an organized health care system; OR has had experience teaching courses in blood withdrawal &/or IV therapy.    

 

 


 Teaching experience not required.

  • Must have effective computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills required.
